Equine America Pro-Pell Plus – 5 Litre
Pro-Pell Plus is a liquid tonic built around B vitamins and chelated trace minerals, fed by the millilitre rather than the scoop. A 30ml serving carries 500mcg of vitamin B12, 50mg of B1, 25mg each of B2 and niacin, 25mg of folic acid, 50mg of copper, 200mg of iron, 150mg of zinc and 250iu of vitamin D3, on a base of water, honey and sorbitol.
The two rates differ, so the tub life does too. Equine America give 30ml a day as maintenance for a 500 to 600kg horse and 60ml a day when preparing for competition, with 60ml as the ceiling; ponies of 300 to 450kg get 30ml, which is also their maximum. Five litres therefore lasts 166 days at 30ml a day and 83 days at 60ml.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 500mcg vitamin B12 and 50mg vitamin B1 per 30ml, with folic acid at 25mg.
- Trace minerals supplied as amino acid chelates — iron, copper, zinc and manganese chelate per kg.
- 9% honey, which does most of the work on palatability in a fussy feeder.
- Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) in the base alongside potassium chloride and magnesium sulphate.
- Liquid, so it goes into a small feed without needing to be eaten as a powder.
- Equine America state Pro-Pell Plus is BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited and suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.
Suitable For
- Horses in hard work or through an intense competition season.
- Fussy feeders who will take a liquid more readily than a powder.
- Horses on restricted turnout with limited access to fresh grazing.
- Yards feeding several horses, where 5 litres is the economical size.
- Not the right buy for one pony on maintenance — the 1 litre bottle is a 30-day supply at the pony rate and will not sit around going out of date.
Feeding
- Horses 500 to 600kg: 30ml daily for maintenance, 60ml daily preparing for competition. Maximum 60ml.
- Ponies 300 to 450kg: 30ml daily, which is also the maximum for that weight.
- 5 litres lasts 166 days at 30ml a day, or 83 days at 60ml a day.
- Feed on the daily bucket feed. Shake the container before pouring.
- Also sold in 1 litre, which Equine America rate as a 30-day supply.

Care & Caution
- This supplies iron and copper at meaningful levels. Do not feed it alongside another iron or copper supplement without checking the combined totals with your vet or nutritionist.
- Do not exceed 60ml a day for a horse, or 30ml a day for a pony.
- Iron supplementation is not a fix for a horse that seems flat. If a horse is genuinely off-colour, get bloods done before reaching for a tonic.
