Equus Health Fenugreek Seeds – 1kg

Fenugreek is the seed behind the smell of a curry house, and that aroma is half of why it works in a feed room. Equus Health are brief about it: ideal for adding condition and topline to poor doers. The seed is fed whole, at 25g a day, which is a lower rate than most of the leaf herbs in the range.

The strong scent makes it useful twice over — once for the condition it is bought for, and again as a way of getting a suspicious horse to accept something else in the bucket. A 1kg pack at the published rate is about six weeks; Equus Health also pack it in 3kg for anyone feeding it long term or to more than one horse.

Performance & Benefits
  • Whole fenugreek seed, single ingredient, nothing blended in.
  • Equus Health recommend it for adding condition and topline to poor doers.
  • Strongly aromatic, which helps disguise less palatable additions to the same feed.
  • Fed at 25g daily, a lower rate than the leaf herbs in the Equus Health range.
  • Available from Equus Health in 1kg and 3kg; this listing is the 1kg.
<>
Suitable For
  • Poor doers that hold condition badly through winter or in hard work.
  • Horses whose topline has dropped and who are being brought back into work.
  • Fussy feeders, where the aroma does as much good as the seed.
  • Owners feeding more than one horse, who may prefer the 3kg pack.
  • Not for mares in foal without veterinary advice — Equus Health carry that warning. A broodmare wanting condition is better handled through the main ration.
<>
Feeding
  • Horses and ponies: approximately 25g daily.
  • Equus Health give the same rate as two 50ml scoops daily.
  • One rate is published for horses and ponies together, with no separate figure by height or bodyweight.
  • Stir into the hard feed; the seeds are heavier than leaf herbs and sink through a damp feed readily.
  • 1kg at 25g a day is about 40 days for one horse.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: 100% fenugreek seeds. 1kg pack.
  • Equus Health publish no typical analysis for the seed, so no protein, oil, fibre, sugar or ash figures are stated here.
  • No carriers, binders or added vitamins and minerals — the pack is the seed alone.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Seek veterinary advice before feeding to pregnant mares. This is Equus Health's own published warning.
  • Equus Health publish no competition status for fenugreek. Check the current FEI, BHA and British Eventing lists before feeding it to a horse competing under them.
  • The aroma carries through to the horse's feed and breath; if you are feeding it before a dope test, know what you have given.
