Fancy Feeds Supreme Mixed Corn – 20kg

A step up from plain mixed corn. Where the standard mix is wheat and maize and nothing else, Supreme adds naked oats, linseed, black sunflower seeds and oyster shell, and coats the lot in soya oil. That turns a pure energy treat into something that also carries protein, omega-3 and calcium.

It is still a complementary feed rather than a ration — at 11% protein it cannot replace layers pellets — but if you are going to scatter something in the afternoon, this is the more useful thing to be scattering. The oyster shell in particular means the treat is contributing to shell quality rather than diluting it.

Feeding

• Feed no more than 28g, about 1oz, per bird per day, in addition to a fully balanced diet.
• Offer it after the main ration, so birds do not learn to hold out for the corn and leave their pellets.
• Scatter on the ground to encourage natural foraging.
• Provide fresh, clean water and insoluble grit at all times.

• Overfeeding corn is the single most common cause of poor laying in back garden flocks. The 28g cap is there for a reason.
