Farmer Scott's Premium Wild Bird Seed Mix – 12.55kg
The bulk sack of Farmer Scott's Premium mix — 12.55kg, which is roughly a winter's feeding for a garden with a table and two hanging feeders. A general mix is the base of any feeding station: it brings the numbers in, and the specialist foods then pick out the particular species you want.
This is a general-purpose blend rather than a husk-free or no-mess mix, so expect some husk under the feeder and the odd seedling in the border come spring. On a table or scattered on the ground it suits sparrows, dunnocks and finches; in a tube feeder it will mostly draw tits and finches.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 12.55kg sack — enough for a full feeding station through a winter.
- General-purpose mix that suits the widest range of common garden birds.
- Feeds from a hanging tube feeder, a bird table or scattered on the ground.
- Bulk quantity, at a lower cost per kilo than the small bag.
- Keeps several feeders stocked without weekly reordering.
Suitable For
- House sparrows, dunnocks, chaffinches, greenfinches and goldfinches.
- Blue tits, great tits and coal tits at a hanging feeder.
- Blackbirds and collared doves feeding from the ground.
- Larger gardens and busy feeding stations in continuous use.
- More than a small garden with one feeder needs, and it is not husk-free — Henry Bell Sunflower Hearts 4kg is the cleaner option for a patio.
Feeding
- Fill a tube seed feeder, spread on a bird table, or scatter on a clear patch of ground.
- Put out what is taken in a day or two and let the birds clear it before refilling.
- Sweep or rake beneath the feeder regularly — husk and spilled seed attract vermin.
- Store the sack sealed, off the floor, somewhere dry and cool.
- Keep fresh water available for drinking and bathing. Made for wild birds only, not for human consumption.
Composition & Analysis
- Farmer Scott's publish no ingredient list and no typical analysis for this mix on their own website, so no composition percentages and no protein, oil, fibre or ash figures are stated here.
- The declaration printed on the bag is the authority for the batch you receive.
- Blends described as sunflower, millet, safflower and cracked corn appear on some listings for this product. Farmer Scott's do not publish that breakdown, so it is not repeated here.
