Good Boy Training Pads – 30 Pack
Training pads give a puppy one designated place to go while it learns to hold on, and Good Boy’s work the way the better ones do: a soft outer face that a puppy will stand on, an ultra-absorbent inner layer, and a protective backing that keeps what is absorbed off the floor underneath. Good Boy call the mechanism layer lock protection — the liquid turns to gel and stays turned to gel, so it does not come back out when a paw presses on it.
The edges are sealed rather than raw, which is where cheap pads fail first, and the material is made to resist tearing under a puppy that decides the pad is a toy. Thirty pads is the middle pack; Good Boy also make an 8 and a 100.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Layer lock protection turns absorbed liquid to gel, so it stays in the pad rather than squeezing back out.
- Ultra-absorbent inner layer with a soft outer face a puppy is willing to stand on.
- Protective backing to keep floors and upholstery clear of what the pad has taken up.
- Sealed edges, which is where thin pads leak from first.
- Strong and tear-resistant, for a puppy that plays with the pad as well as using it.
- Containing the liquid is what controls the smell — gel in a sealed pad does not gas off the way a wet surface does.
Suitable For
- House-training a puppy, indoors, before the vaccination course is finished.
- Crates and carriers, and travel.
- Older dogs that no longer last the night, and dogs recovering from surgery or on restricted exercise.
- Flats and upper floors, where the garden is not two steps away.
- Not a long-term substitute for taking a dog outside — a pad teaches a dog that indoors is acceptable, so plan to phase it out.
How to Use
- Lay the pad flat, plastic backing down, away from the food bowl and the bed.
- Watch for sniffing, circling and squatting, and move the puppy onto the pad.
- Praise as soon as the puppy uses it — the reward has to land within a second or two to register.
- Change a soiled pad promptly; a puppy will not use a pad it has already filled.
- Move the pad a little closer to the door each week once the puppy is reliable, then outside.
Specification
- 30 pads per pack. Good Boy also make an 8 pack and a 100 pack.
- Multi-layer construction with an absorbent core, a soft top face and a waterproof backing, with sealed edges.
- Good Boy publish no pad dimensions, no layer count and no absorbency figure in millilitres, so none is quoted here.
- Good Boy publish no attractant claim for these pads.
- The three-layer description in this listing’s title is not a figure Good Boy publish; their own copy describes the construction without counting the layers.
