Graze-On Original Dried Grass – 14kg

Graze-On Original is dried grass and nothing else: tall fescues and festuloliums, cut, dried and chopped by Northern Crop Driers. There is no molasses, no binder and nothing added, which makes it one of the plainest bagged forages you can buy.

Northern Crop Driers declare crude protein at 14%, crude fibre at 25%, starch at 1.5% and sugar at 11%, with digestible energy of 10–11MJ/kg. That energy figure is higher than most people expect from a forage — this is nearer a feed than a chaff, and it needs feeding as one.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • 100% dried grass — tall fescues and festuloliums — with nothing added.
  • Starch declared at 1.5%, which is very low.
  • Crude fibre 25% and crude protein 14%.
  • Digestible energy 10–11MJ/kg, comparable to a conditioning fibre feed.
  • Dust extracted, which matters for a horse with a respiratory sensitivity.
  • Molasses free.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses needing calories from fibre rather than from cereals.
  • Horses managed on a dust-reduced regime.
  • Partial forage replacement alongside hay or haylage.
  • Feeding through a bucket as a chaff, or as a feed in its own right.
  • Not a low-sugar forage at 11% sugar — a laminitic or insulin-dysregulated pony needs the whole ration assessed before this goes into it.
<>
Feeding
  • Introduce gradually over five to seven days.
  • Northern Crop Driers' daily guide runs from 0.5kg for a small pony in light work to 2.5kg for a large horse in medium or hard work.
  • Some horses prefer it slightly dampened.
  • Feed alongside forage rather than replacing all of it.
  • Fresh, clean water always available.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: 100% dried grass, from tall fescues and festuloliums.
  • Crude protein 14%. Crude fibre 25%.
  • Sugar 11%. Starch 1.5%.
  • Digestible energy 10–11MJ/kg.
  • Northern Crop Driers publish no oil or ash figure, so none is stated here. Bale weight 14kg.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Sugar is declared at 11%, so this is not a low-sugar feed. Earlier copy on this page described it as suiting horses prone to metabolic issues; Northern Crop Driers make no such claim and it has been removed.
  • Introduce it over five to seven days. Dried grass is more concentrated than hay, and a sudden switch is a colic risk.
