Henry Bell Heavy Duty Everyday Fat Ball Feeder – Black
The Heavy Duty Everyday feeders are Henry Bell's compact take on their full Heavy Duty range: the same aluminium build and the same all-in-one base, in a smaller body and at a lower price. The finish is a flat black that disappears against a hedge or a fence rather than glinting at you.
The base is what distinguishes this range. It is a single moulded piece that widens out below the cage, giving birds more to stand on while they work at a ball and catching the crumbs that would otherwise drop into the grass — which keeps the ground beneath tidier and gives less reason for rats to visit.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Aluminium construction, finished in black — light, and it does not rust the way plated steel does.
- All-in-one base gives extra perch space, so more than one bird can feed at once.
- The same base collects food debris instead of letting it fall to the ground.
- Compact version of the full Heavy Duty feeders, with the same features in a smaller body.
- Easy to clean and refill, which is what decides whether a feeder actually gets cleaned.
- Hangs from a feeding station, a bird table hook or a tree branch.
Suitable For
- Fat balls and suet products.
- Blue tits, great tits, coal tits, long-tailed tits, starlings, house sparrows and robins.
- Gardens where a gold or bronze feeder would look wrong and something plain is wanted.
- Feeding stations that already carry seed and peanuts and need a suet point.
- Not a feeder for loose seed or sunflower hearts — the Heavy Duty Everyday Seed or Sunflower feeders take those.
How to Use
- Open the lid, drop the fat balls in and close it before hanging.
- Hang from a feeding station arm, a bird table hook or a branch, ideally with cover a few metres away.
- Empty out crumbs from the base each time you refill.
- Wash weekly in warm water with a bird-safe hygiene product, and dry it fully before refilling.
- Rotate two feeders if you can, so one is always clean and dry and ready to swap in.
Specification
- Aluminium, finished in black. Henry Bell product code H040098.
- All-in-one base for extra perch space and debris collection.
- Designed for Henry Bell fat balls, which they size at 80g each.
- Henry Bell publish no height, diameter, weight or ball capacity for the Heavy Duty Everyday feeders, so none is stated here. Their full-size Heritage Fat Ball Feeder, by comparison, is 32cm and holds five balls.
- The Heavy Duty Everyday range also runs to seed, peanut, sunflower and mealworm/suet bites feeders.
