Henry Bell Select Peanut Feeder – 20cm

The Select range is Henry Bell's plain working feeder: 20cm high, 6.5cm across, fully recyclable, and priced to be replaced rather than restored. The peanut version is a metal mesh tube with ring perches built into the frame, so birds have somewhere to stand rather than having to cling to the mesh itself.

A push-down lid opens the top. That sounds like a small thing until February, when you are refilling feeders in gloves and a fiddly screw cap is exactly what makes you give up and go back indoors.

Performance & Benefits
  • 20cm high and 6.5cm wide — compact enough for a crowded feeding station arm.
  • Metal mesh body, sized so birds flake peanuts off rather than take them whole.
  • Ring perches built into the frame for a steadier stance while feeding.
  • Push-down lid that opens one-handed.
  • Fully recyclable, in keeping with the rest of the Select range.
  • One of six matching Select feeders, so a station can be kitted out consistently.
<>
Suitable For
  • Whole peanuts, peanut granules and suet nuggets.
  • Blue tits, great tits, long-tailed tits, greenfinches, goldfinches, nuthatches and great spotted woodpeckers.
  • Small gardens and balconies where a 32cm feeder is more than you need.
  • Feeding stations, bird table hooks and branches.
  • Not for seed mixes, sunflower hearts or nyger. The Select range has a separate feeder for each of those, and nyger in particular needs its own fine-mesh feeder.
<>
How to Use
  • Push the lid down to open it, fill with peanuts and close.
  • Hang in an open spot with cover a few metres away, out of a cat's jumping range.
  • Wash it out every couple of weeks in hot water with a bird-safe hygiene spray.
  • Dry it fully before refilling.
  • Remove damp or mouldy nuts rather than adding fresh ones on top.
<>
Specification
  • Henry Bell product code H040125. 20cm high, 6.5cm wide.
  • Metal mesh body with integrated ring perches and a push-down lid.
  • Henry Bell describe the Select range as fully recyclable.
  • Henry Bell publish no weight, mesh gauge or peanut capacity for this feeder, so none is stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Whole peanuts belong behind mesh. Offered loose, a whole nut carried to a nest can choke a chick.
  • Keep peanuts in this feeder rather than on a table right through the breeding season.
  • Replace the feeder if the mesh splits. A torn panel lets whole nuts out.
