Henry Bell Suet Mealworm Bites – 2kg
Suet Mealworm Bites are suet pellets with dried mealworm blended through them: fat for the energy, insect protein for the birds that will not touch seed. Robins, wrens and dunnocks are the obvious takers, and blue tits work through them fast. The 2kg bag is the one to buy when a pellet feeder is a permanent fixture.
The pellets are small, so lighter birds take them whole and very little is dropped underneath. They come into their own in the breeding season, when adults are hunting insect food for nestlings and the natural supply is at the mercy of the weather.
<>Performance & Benefits
- High-fat suet pellets with dried mealworm blended in.
- Insect protein as well as fat, which is what brings in the birds that ignore seed.
- Small pellets that lighter birds take whole, with little waste beneath the feeder.
- Feeds from a suet pellet feeder, a bird table or the ground.
- 2kg bag — enough to run one pellet feeder through a season.
Suitable For
- Robin, wren and dunnock, which feed on insects first and seed second.
- Blue tit, great tit, coal tit, long-tailed tit, blackbird, song thrush, starling and tree sparrow.
- Ground and table feeding as well as hanging feeders.
- Feeding through the breeding season, when insect food is in demand.
- Not the pick if you are trying to draw thrushes and blackbirds specifically — Henry Bell Suet Berry Bites carry raisins and rowan berries for that.
Feeding
- Fill a suet pellet feeder, scatter on a bird table, or put a handful on the ground.
- In mild weather put out only what is taken in a day or two, since the fat softens.
- Keep fresh water available for drinking and bathing alongside the food.
- Made for feeding wild birds only. Not for human consumption.
- Contains nuts and is packed in an environment where nuts are present.
