Henry Bell Superior Fat Balls – Pack of 25
Twenty-five Superior fat balls, supplied loose and net-free. Superior is the richer of Henry Bell's two fat ball recipes, built on nuts and seeds as well as cereal and fat, and declared at 39.5% crude fat — around double the fat in their standard ball.
Twenty-five is the middle size in the range: about a month of feeding for one five-ball feeder in winter, without committing to a tub of fifty. It is the pack that suits a garden already in the habit of feeding fat but not yet running two feeders.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Twenty-five fat balls made to Henry Bell's Superior nut and seed recipe.
- Declared 39.5% crude fat, against 19.0% in Henry Bell's standard fat ball.
- Net-free, so nothing has to be cut away before feeding.
- Feed from a fat ball feeder, a bird table or a ground tray.
- Roughly a month of winter feeding for one five-ball feeder.
Suitable For
- Robin, long-tailed tit and great tit, which Henry Bell name for this product.
- Blue tit, coal tit, nuthatch, dunnock, starling and house sparrow.
- Gardens with one fat ball feeder in regular use.
- Year-round feeding, and particularly the cold months.
- If you keep two fat ball feeders going through a whole winter, the tub of 50 is the better buy.
Feeding
- Load a fat ball feeder, or put the balls out on a bird table or ground tray.
- Keep the feeder stocked once birds are visiting — an empty feeder wastes a habit they have learned.
- Move the feeder occasionally so droppings do not build up in one place.
- Clean the feeder regularly and keep fresh water available for drinking and bathing.
- Made for feeding wild birds only. Not for human consumption.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition as declared by Henry Bell: cereals, nuts, seeds, oils and fats, derivatives of vegetable origin.
- Crude protein 14.5%. Crude fibres 9.0%. Crude fat 39.5%. Crude ash 2.0%.
- A crude fibre figure of 36.0% appears on several retail listings for these fat balls. Henry Bell declare 9.0%, and the figures above are Henry Bell's own.
- Henry Bell's standard fat ball is declared at 19.0% crude fat by comparison, so Superior is roughly twice as rich.
- Pack of 25. Henry Bell product code H020051. Barcode 5026132031687.
Care & Caution
- Feed these loose in a fat ball feeder or on a table. Never put fat balls out in plastic nets — nets catch feet and beaks, which is why Henry Bell supply theirs net-free.
- In warm weather the fat softens, spoils quickly and can smear on plumage. Put out less at a time in summer and clear away anything left.
- Contains nuts and is packed in an environment where nuts are present. Made for wild birds only, not for human consumption.
