Hook Over Manger – White

The white hook over manger: a moulded plastic feeder with a hooked back that drops over a gate, a rail or a stable door, and lifts straight off again when the feed has gone.

White is the one where you can see what is actually left in the bottom — useful with a horse whose appetite you are watching, or where a supplement is being mixed in and you need to know it went down. Sold under Animall's own label, with no manufacturer specification published, so no capacity or dimensions are stated below.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • Hooks over a fence rail, gate or stable door without fixings or tools.
  • Moulded plastic, so it rinses out and cannot rust.
  • Lifts off in one movement for washing or for moving to another horse.
  • White shows exactly what has been left in the bottom, useful when watching an appetite.
  • Feeding at head height keeps the ration off the ground and out of the mud.
<>
Suitable For
  • Feeding at a field gate or over a post-and-rail fence.
  • Stable doors, and temporary stabling at shows.
  • Monitoring a horse that is off its feed, or checking a supplement has been eaten.
  • Horses that tip a bucket over as soon as it goes on the floor.
  • Not a fixed stable manger — where the feeder never moves, a corner manger bolted to the wall is the better answer.
<>
How to Use
  • Hook it over a rail or door of a thickness it sits down onto squarely, and check it does not rock.
  • Feed, then take it off — do not leave it hanging on the fence between meals.
  • Wash it out with warm water after wet or soaked feeds and let it dry.
  • Keep one per horse if you feed different rations.
<>
Specification
  • Colour: white.
  • Moulded plastic with an integral hook-over back.
  • Barcode 5055517000604.
  • Also stocked in black, blue and pink.
  • No manufacturer specification is published for this manger under any name, so capacity, dimensions and material grade are not stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Take the manger off the fence once the feed has gone. Left hanging it becomes something to chew, and a horse can catch a headcollar or a rug strap on it.
  • In a field with more than one horse loose, only feed from mangers if you can separate them — a feeder fixed at head height is something to be pushed into.
