Horslyx Pro Digest Mini Lick – 650g
The 650g Pro Digest mini is the gut lick in hand-held form — roughly three days for one horse, and the tub most people reach for when a horse is travelling, stabled away from home or off its feed for a day or two.
It carries the same formulation as the 5kg and 15kg Pro Digest tubs: slippery elm bark, seaweed meal, a prebiotic yeast extract and Actisaf live yeast at 8 x 10¹⁰ cfu per kg, with magnesium raised to 0.9%. The spiced apple flavouring makes it one of the easier licks to get a suspicious horse to try.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Live Actisaf yeast declared at 8 x 10¹⁰ cfu per kg in a 650g tub.
- Slippery elm bark and seaweed meal, Horslyx's named stomach-to-hindgut ingredients.
- Magnesium at 0.9%, the highest of any Horslyx Balancer.
- Spiced apple flavouring at 500mg per kg — the range's most tempting flavour for fussy horses.
- Vitamin E at 2,000mg per kg, above the Original lick's 1,200mg.
- Licking encourages saliva, the horse's own acid buffer, which matters most on a lorry.
Suitable For
- Horses that travel badly or go off their feed away from home.
- Short spells of box rest or a change of routine.
- Testing whether a horse takes to Pro Digest before buying a 5kg tub.
- Distraction during clipping, scanning or farrier work.
- Three days is not a digestive programme — Horslyx Pro Digest Balancer 5kg is the tub to feed continuously.
Feeding
- Horslyx give an expected intake of 250g a day for a 500kg horse, 200g for a 300kg pony and 300g for a 700kg horse.
- Horslyx put a 650g mini at roughly three days' supply for one horse.
- Leave the lick in its own tub rather than turning it out onto the floor.
- Introduce it slowly and monitor the intake rate; Horslyx note that consumption usually falls once a horse has got used to having a lick available.
- Feed alongside forage and fresh water.
