Hubblick Mint Horse Lick – 10kg
Mint is the most straightforwardly palatable block in the Hubblick range, and the one to try on a horse that has walked past a plain mineral lick. It is weatherproof, so it stands up to a field as well as it does to a stable.
Hubblick publish a sugar content of 12% and list vitamins A, D3, E and the B-complex, with zinc, iodine and selenium among the trace minerals. They name mint, comfrey and fenugreek in their description but publish neither a full ingredient declaration nor a percentage analysis.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Mint flavour, the most readily accepted in the Hubblick range.
- Weatherproof block, suited to paddock use as much as the stable.
- Sugar content of 12%, Hubblick's stated figure for the range.
- Vitamins A, D3, E and the B-complex.
- Zinc, iodine and selenium among the trace minerals.
- Hubblick name mint, comfrey and fenugreek among the ingredients.
Suitable For
- Horses that turn their nose up at an unflavoured mineral lick.
- Field-kept horses and ponies needing a block that survives the weather.
- Yards running several horses off one lick.
- Also made in 1kg and 5kg where a 10kg block is more than one horse needs.
- Not a fortified feed — a horse in work still needs a balancer or a hard feed alongside.
Feeding
- Place in the stable or paddock and allow free access.
- Always keep fresh, clean water available.
- Site it where rain drains off rather than sitting on the block.
- Offer it alongside the existing ration rather than in place of anything.
- Check how quickly it is going down in the first week.
Composition & Analysis
- Hubblick publish no full ingredient declaration and no percentage analysis for this lick, so none is stated here.
- What Hubblick do publish: sugar 12%; vitamins A, D3, E and the B-complex; zinc, iodine and selenium; and mint, comfrey and fenugreek named in the product description.
- Sizes: 1kg, 5kg and 10kg. This is the 10kg block.
- Earlier copy on this page listed ten named herbs as a composition. That list is not published by Hubblick and has been removed.
Care & Caution
- 12% sugar is low for a lick but it is not negligible. Check with your vet before allowing free access to a laminitic or insulin-dysregulated pony.
- A bored stabled horse can get through a lick far faster than intended. Ration access if that happens.
