This is a bathing brush rather than a body brush: a large oval sponge body with soft polypropylene bristles set into it, so one pass both holds the water and works the dirt out of the coat. At 20 x 9.5cm it covers ground quickly on a shoulder or a quarter without being unwieldy on a leg.

The bristles are soft enough for a wash-down rather than for scrubbing, which is the point — it is meant for lifting sweat and mud out of a wet coat, not for lifting scurf out of a dry one. Hy make it in nine colours across the Sport Active range; this is Midnight Navy.

How to Use

• Soak the sponge body thoroughly and work up a lather with your chosen shampoo.
• Work in the direction of the coat, letting the bristles do the lifting rather than pressing hard.
• Rinse the brush out frequently so it is not putting dirt back into the coat.
• Squeeze it out and stand it bristles-down to dry after use.
• Store it dry; a sponge brush left wet in a closed grooming box will go sour.
