Alpine Green is one of the ten shades Hy make this body brush in, and it is a deep, muted green rather than a bright one — the sort that does not look wrong sitting in a tack room. The brush is a large oval, 20 x 9.5cm, with a soft touch two-tone back that fills the hand properly instead of being gripped at the fingertips.

The bristles are soft PP, and that is the whole point of a body brush: short, dense and fine enough to get down to the skin and bring scurf and grease out, then lay the coat flat behind them. It follows the dandy brush rather than replacing it, and it is the brush that actually produces a shine.

How to Use

• Use after the dandy brush, once the loose mud is off.
• Work in short strokes with the lie of the coat, leaning your weight in a little at the end of each stroke.
• Draw the brush through a metal curry comb every three or four strokes to clear the grease out of the bristles.
• Wash in warm water with mild detergent when the bristles will no longer clear, then rinse thoroughly.
• Dry bristles-down, away from direct heat.
