KM Elite Bungee Tie – Royal Blue

A bungee tie takes the jolt out of tying up. Rather than a horse hitting the end of a solid rope and setting itself back, the elastic cord absorbs the first part of the movement, which is usually enough to stop a startled horse escalating into a full pull-back. KM Elite's version is 23" long with a quick-release panic snap on one end and a trigger clip on the other.

The panic snap is the part worth paying for. It is built so the sliding collar can still be worked by hand while the horse is leaning on the tie, which is exactly the moment an ordinary trigger clip jams solid. Royal Blue is the shade used on this listing; KM Elite's own colour list for the Bungee Tie gives Blue rather than Royal Blue.

Performance & Benefits
  • Elastic bungee cord absorbs the first jolt when a horse steps back or startles.
  • Quick-release panic snap at one end, designed to be undone by hand under load.
  • Trigger clip at the other end for the headcollar.
  • 23" long, short enough for a trailer bay and long enough for a stable ring.
  • KM Elite catalogue reference KBT.
<>
Suitable For
  • Tying in a trailer, horsebox or lorry bay for short periods.
  • Stable tying while grooming, tacking up or clipping.
  • Horses that fidget or step back at the tie rather than genuinely pulling back.
  • Not the answer for a confirmed puller-back — that is a training problem, and no tie of any kind should be relied on to contain one.
<>
How to Use
  • Clip the trigger end to the headcollar and the panic snap to a loop of breakable baler twine on the tie ring, never direct to the ring itself.
  • Adjust the twine so the horse can stand square and lower its head a little, without enough slack to get a leg over the tie.
  • Release by pulling the panic snap's sliding collar — it is designed to be worked by hand even while the horse is pulling back.
  • Stand to the side, not in front, when clipping on or releasing, so the cord cannot recoil into your face.
  • Wipe down and hang to dry; store out of sunlight, which degrades elastic over time.
<>
Specification
  • Length 23" (approximately 58cm).
  • Bungee cord with a quick-release panic snap and a trigger clip.
  • KM Elite list twelve colours for this tie: Hot Orange, Black, Burgundy, Green, Navy Blue, Purple, Grey, Hunter Green, Blue, Red, Pink and Teal.
  • KM Elite publish no cord diameter and no breaking strain for the bungee tie, so neither is stated here. A ½" cord figure appears on some listings including our own earlier copy; it is not a KM Elite published figure.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Elastic under tension recoils. If the cord or a fitting lets go it will snap back hard — never put your face over it, and replace the tie at the first sign of fraying or perished rubber.
  • Tie for short periods only and never leave a horse tied and unattended, which is KM Elite's own instruction.
  • Always tie to breakable twine. The stretch in a bungee tie is not a substitute for a link that will part under load.
  • Not a substitute for a properly fitted headcollar in good condition — check the headcollar as well as the tie.
