KM Elite Superfine Cotton Lead Rope – Black/Grey/White, 2m

KM Elite's Superfine Cotton Lead Rope is the plain, light rope every yard gets through: 2 metres of fine cotton braid in a mixed black, grey and white, soft from the first day and cheap enough to keep a spare or two of. It is not a groundwork rope and does not pretend to be.

Superfine cotton means a finer, lighter braid than the double braided ropes KM Elite also make, so it coils down small, hangs on a hook without bulk and stays kind on the hands in cold weather. The three-colour mix hides yard dirt better than a solid pale rope does.

How to Use

• Clip the rope to the back ring of the headcollar, under the jaw.
• Lead from the near side with your hand roughly 30cm below the clip, and the tail of the rope folded — never coiled — in the other hand.
• Wash in warm water with a mild detergent when it gets muddy, and hang it to dry fully before putting it away.
• Hang it by the clip rather than leaving it on the floor, so it dries and is not trodden on.

Care & Caution

• Never wrap the rope around your hand, wrist or waist. A horse that pulls away with cotton wound round a hand causes a serious rope burn at best.
• Tie to a loop of breakable baler twine with a quick-release knot, never directly to a solid fixed object.
• Do not leave a horse tied and unattended, and do not leave a rope clipped to a headcollar in the field, where a horse can get a leg through it.
