KM Elite Double Braided Cotton Lead Rope – 7ft, Black & White
This is KM Elite's double braided cotton rope in the two-tone black and white: a 7ft (2.13m) lead built from round cotton rather than flat webbing. The double braid gives the rope body, so it fills the hand and stays comfortable on a horse that leans back against it.
Two-tone braids hide yard dirt better than the pale solids and look right on a black, grey or coloured horse. A brass plated swivel bolt snap finishes the rope; it is corrosion resistant and it swivels, which is what stops a lead kinking after a fortnight of use.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 7ft (2.13m), the length most people want for general handling.
- Two-tone black and white braid that does not show every mark.
- Round cotton double braid — a core inside a braided sleeve, so it keeps its shape.
- Brass plated swivel bolt snap, corrosion resistant, turning freely under load.
- Soft enough from new that there is no stiff breaking-in period.
Suitable For
- Everyday leading, tying up and turnout.
- Black, grey, piebald and skewbald horses, where the two-tone braid suits the coat.
- Yards where a pale rope would look grubby within a week.
- Pairing with a black KM Elite Padded Headcollar.
- Not enough rope for groundwork or long-lining at a distance — choose the KM Elite Double Braided Cotton Lead Rope 10ft for that.
How to Use
- Clip the swivel bolt snap to the back ring of the headcollar, under the jaw.
- Lead with your hand about 30cm below the clip, spare rope folded flat rather than looped over the hand.
- Wash in warm water with a mild detergent and hang to dry fully before storing.
- Hang by the clip; a rope left on a wet floor stays damp and goes stiff.
Specification
- Length 7ft (2.13m).
- Round cotton, tight double braided construction, black and white.
- Brass plated swivel bolt snap, corrosion resistant and swivelling.
- SKU 1001908. Barcode 5060171233756.
- KM Elite publish no rope diameter, weight or breaking strain for this lead, so none is stated here.
Care & Caution
- Never wrap the rope around your hand, wrist or waist. Cotton grips skin and will burn it if the horse pulls away.
- Tie to a loop of breakable baler twine with a quick-release knot, never directly to a gate, ring or post.
- Do not leave a horse tied unattended, and do not leave the rope clipped on in the field, where a leg can go through it.
