The Deluxe Haynet is the net KM Elite built the range on: a 40" net with 2" holes, handcrafted from premium polypropylene yarn and finished with iron rings plated in high chrome. Black is the colour that hides hay dust and green staining better than any of the others, which is why it tends to end up as the yard's spare-net colour rather than an individual horse's.

It holds roughly 6.5kg of hay and weighs 575g empty — KM Elite point out that most competing nets come in at 300–350g, and the difference is in the thickness of the yarn rather than the size of the net. That extra substance is what stops the mesh stretching into wide, useless holes after a season of daily use.

How to Use

• Hang the net from a ring or a tie post at wither height or above, using a quick-release knot tied to a loop of breakable baler twine.
• Fill from the top, gather the drawcord, pull it tight and knot it off so the mouth closes as the net empties.
• Take the slack up as the net empties, or re-tie it higher, so the empty net never hangs down near the horse's legs.
• Rinse the net through with water and hang it to dry if it has been used for soaked hay or haylage.
• Untie and take the net down before turnout rather than leaving it hanging in an empty stable.

Care & Caution

• A haynet is an entanglement risk. Tie it high enough that a shod hoof cannot reach the empty net, and always to a loop of breakable twine rather than direct to a fixed ring.
• Do not leave a slack or part-empty net hanging within reach of a horse that paws or rugs up.
• 2" holes are a mild restriction rather than a true slow-feeder mesh — a determined horse will still clear this net quickly.
• Check the mesh and the rings for wear before each use and retire the net once strands have parted.
