KM Elite Padded Headcollar – Hot Green, Pony

Hot Green is the brightest colour KM Elite make and the reason people buy it is visibility: a pony in a hot green headcollar is findable at the far end of a field in poor light, and the headcollar itself is findable when it ends up in the wrong locker. The build is the standard padded one — lined nylon webbing, padded headpiece, padded nosepiece, brass-colour clips.

KM Elite name two pony fittings, XS (Small Pony) and Small (Large Pony), so it is worth measuring against a headcollar you already own before ordering rather than relying on the word Pony alone. Both are cut for a pony's shorter nose rather than being a reduced horse size.

How to Use

• Buckle on the near side, with the noseband sitting about two fingers below the cheekbone.
• Adjust so two flat fingers fit between the noseband and the nose — any tighter and the padding cannot spread the pressure.
• Clip the lead rope to the ring under the jaw, not to a side ring.
• Hand wash in warm water and air dry naturally. KM Elite say not to tumble dry.

Care & Caution

• This is a standard nylon headcollar, not a breakaway one. The webbing and fittings will not part under load, so do not leave it on a horse turned out unsupervised — a fixed headcollar catches on fences, gateposts and hind shoes.
• Tie to a loop of breakable baler twine with a quick-release knot, never directly to a ring, gate or post.
• Check the stitching, buckle tongues and clip springs before each use and retire the headcollar once the webbing frays.
