RenaSan Antiseptic Ear Drops – 100ml

RenaSan Antiseptic Ear Drops are a hypochlorous acid solution for disinfecting and cleansing ears, sold in a 100ml bottle and made in the UK. Hypochlorous acid is the compound the body's own white cells produce to kill bacteria, which is why it manages to be antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal without stinging or drying the skin it is put on.

It is not a bleach solution. RenaSan state the formula is free from sodium hypochlorite, preservatives, alcohol and harsh chemicals, and that it is dermatologically tested. That makes it usable on an ear that is already sore, and around the ear on minor grazes, in a way that a solvent-based cleaner is not.

How to Use

• RenaSan publish directions only as routine ear hygiene, targeted disinfection and cleansing of minor wounds or irritation around the ears — no drop count or frequency is given, so follow the bottle label.
• Clean visible discharge from the outer ear before applying, rather than washing it further in.
• Hold the head still, apply into the ear canal, then massage the base of the ear so the solution spreads.
• Let the animal shake, then wipe the outer ear with cotton wool. Never push anything down the canal.
• Replace the cap after use and keep the nozzle clean.

Care & Caution

• For the ear and the skin around it only. Do not put it in eyes — RenaSan make a separate eye drop.
• Persistent head shaking, a bad smell, obvious pain or a dark discharge is not a hygiene problem. Ear mites, a grass seed or a ruptured eardrum will not be fixed by drops, and need a vet.
• Stop if the ear looks more irritated after use and take veterinary advice.
