KM Elite Ultimate Oil – 5 Litre

Ultimate Oil is KM Elite's cold-pressed, wholly plant-based oil supplement, blended in the UK from flaxseed, wheatgerm, rice bran, coconut and sea buckthorn berry oils. There is no fish oil and no animal by-product in it, and the point of the blend is the balance — Omega-3 to Omega-6 at 2.5:1, rather than the Omega-6-heavy profile you get from pouring a single vegetable oil over a feed.

The 5 litre drum is the middle of the three sizes KM Elite make. At their feeding rates it runs to roughly 50 days for a heavy horse on 100ml and around 160 days for a pony on 30ml. Natural vitamin E and rosemary oil are added as antioxidants, which is what keeps a cold-pressed oil stable in the container rather than turning in the first warm month.

Performance & Benefits
  • Cold-pressed in the UK and entirely plant-based — no fish oil, no animal by-products.
  • Omega-3 and Omega-6 balanced at 2.5:1, with Omega-9 and the less common Omega-7 from sea buckthorn berry oil.
  • Flaxseed oil supplies the Omega-3; KM Elite note it can help with dry skin or sweet itch.
  • Wheatgerm oil brings vitamin E and antioxidants; rice bran oil contributes gamma-oryzanol and ferulic acid.
  • Coconut oil adds medium-chain fatty acids, which are used quickly for energy.
  • A steady, non-fizzy energy source that does not depend on feeding more grain.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies needing coat and skin condition through a moult or a long winter.
  • Endurance and performance horses wanting slow-release energy without extra starch.
  • Older horses that struggle to hold condition on forage and a balancer alone.
  • Horses kept deliberately low in sugar and starch — the oil analyses under 1% protein, fibre and ash.
  • Not the answer for an overweight horse on a restricted ration; sort the forage and the workload before adding calories.
<>
Feeding
  • Introduce gradually over 5–7 days, stirred into the normal feed.
  • Ponies and light horses: 30–60ml daily.
  • Medium and heavy horses: 60–100ml daily.
  • Adjust to the individual horse's bodyweight and workload.
  • 5 litres lasts roughly 50 days at 100ml a day, or around 160 days at 30ml.

Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: flaxseed oil, wheatgerm oil, rice bran oil, coconut oil, sea buckthorn berry oil, natural vitamin E, rosemary oil.
  • Analytical constituents, typical: oil 99.9%, moisture under 1%, ash under 1%, protein under 1%, fibre under 1%.
  • Additives per kg: vitamin E 2,500mg, rosemary oil 500mg.
  • Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio 2.5:1.
  • 5 litre container, barcode 5060171233404. Also made in 1 litre and 25 litre.
  • Older listings — ours included — quoted “more than 190 bioactive nutrients”. KM Elite no longer publish that figure, so it is not repeated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Build up over 5–7 days. A full dose introduced straight away will usually loosen droppings.
  • Oil is calorie-dense. Count it in the ration of an overweight or laminitis-prone horse rather than adding it on top.
  • For animal use only. Keep out of reach of children.
