KONG AirDog Fetch Stick with Rope – Medium
The AirDog Fetch Stick puts the two things most dogs already want to carry — a tennis ball and a stick — into one toy. The body is KONG's own non-abrasive tennis material rather than standard tennis-ball felt, which matters more than it sounds: ordinary tennis felt is abrasive enough to wear the enamel off a keen fetcher's teeth over a few years of daily throws.
A knotted rope runs the length of it, so you get distance on the throw without a launcher, and the dog gets something to hold onto when the throwing stops. KONG list this one in Medium only, catalogued as AKFS2, barcode 035585737225.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Non-abrasive KONG tennis material, gentler on teeth and gums than a standard tennis ball.
- Stick shape gives an erratic, unpredictable bounce that keeps a dog chasing rather than trotting back.
- Knotted rope adds throwing distance and doubles the toy up for tug.
- Squeaker-free, so it suits dogs that get over-aroused by noise but still want the retrieve.
- Light enough to carry a long way and to float-test in shallow water without waterlogging instantly.
Suitable For
- Dogs that fetch hard and often, and wear ordinary tennis balls out.
- Owners who want distance on a throw without carrying a ball launcher.
- Mixed fetch-and-tug play with one toy.
- Medium dogs, roughly 5–35 lb (about 2–16kg) on KONG's own size guidance.
- Not a chew toy and not right for a power chewer that strips rope — the black rubber KONG Extreme in the matching size is the toy for that dog.
How to Use
- Throw it on open ground rather than hard tarmac, which shortens the life of the tennis material.
- Hold the rope end for tug; let go of it before a dog that plants and pulls can twist a tooth.
- Put it away between sessions rather than leaving it down as an all-day chew.
- Wash in warm water with a grease-cutting dish soap and dry fully; KONG's own cleaning advice is a ten minute soak in hot soapy water, then scrub and rinse.
Specification
- Size Medium. KONG catalogue reference AKFS2, barcode 035585737225.
- Non-abrasive KONG tennis material body with a knotted rope through the centre.
- No squeaker fitted to this shape.
- KONG publish no length, diameter or weight for the Fetch Stick, so none is stated here.
Care & Caution
- KONG say plainly that no safe dog toy is completely indestructible. Supervise play and take it away once the tennis covering splits or the rope frays.
- Loose rope strands are a swallowing and gut-blockage risk — trim them off or retire the toy.
- Size to the largest dog in the house, not the smallest, if they share toys.
