KONG Extreme – Small, Black
The Small Extreme is 4.4 × 4.4 × 7.6cm and weighs just 50g, which puts it with dogs up to about 20 lb — roughly 9kg. Small does not mean soft: this is the same black Extreme rubber KONG use on the XXLarge, in a body sized for a Jack Russell rather than a rottweiler.
A lot of small dogs chew far above their weight, and this is the toy for them. The hollow is narrow, so it suits a handful of kibble topped with paste rather than a whole bowlful, and it freezes down to a very long-lasting job for a little dog.
<>Performance & Benefits
- KONG's hardest rubber grade in their smallest practical Extreme size.
- 4.4 × 4.4 × 7.6cm, 50g — light enough for a small dog to carry and toss.
- Hollow chamber for kibble, wet food or a paste seal.
- Erratic rebound that a terrier will chase round a room.
- Freezes well; a stuffed and frozen Small will occupy a little dog a long time.
- 100% natural rubber, made in the USA.
Suitable For
- Dogs up to about 20 lb (roughly 9kg) in KONG's sizing.
- Small breeds that destroy soft toys and Classic red rubber alike.
- Portioned feeding for a dog whose daily ration is genuinely small.
- Travel and car journeys, where a light toy is easier to pack.
- Wrong for anything bigger than a small terrier — a Small KONG can disappear behind a medium dog's back teeth, so move up to the Medium or Large Extreme.
How to Use
- Push kibble in through the wide end and seal it with a little paste.
- Freeze the stuffed toy to make a small ration last far longer.
- Begin with a loose fill so a small dog does not give up on it.
- Hot soapy water or the dishwasher's top rack; dry fully before reloading.
- Roll or bounce it along the floor rather than throwing it at a small dog.
Specification
- KONG size Small, for dogs up to about 20 lb (roughly 9kg).

- 100% natural rubber, KONG Extreme (black) formula. Made in the USA.
- KONG item K3, UPC 035585111605.
- KONG do not make the Extreme in an XSmall; the red Classic does go smaller.
Care & Caution
- KONG's own instruction: supervised use only, remove all packaging and packaging attachments, and discontinue use if damaged.
- KONG add that power chewers may need to size up one or two sizes — this is the smallest Extreme, so a determined small dog may be better on the Medium.
- Never give a Small KONG to a medium or large dog; at 4.4cm across it is a swallowing hazard for them.
