Leovet 5-Star Body Wash Biotin – Horse Shampoo, 500ml

The 5-Star Body Wash is leovet's everyday shampoo, built around biotin — one of the water-soluble B vitamins, which leovet describe as strengthening hair structure and hair roots through keratin formation. It lathers readily on a wet coat and rinses out clean, which is what you want from a shampoo you may be reaching for weekly through the summer.

It is silicone free, so it cleans the hair rather than coating it and leaves nothing behind that makes plaiting awkward afterwards. At 500ml it is the standard bottle in the 5-Star range, and it is the wash step before either the 5-Star Detangler or the 5-Star Braiding Gel.

Performance & Benefits
  • Biotin-based formula — leovet credit the vitamin with strengthening hair structure and hair roots through keratin formation.
  • Silicone free, so the coat is cleaned rather than coated and the hair keeps its own texture.
  • Mild enough for routine washing rather than occasional deep cleaning only.
  • Lathers well and rinses out without leaving residue buried in a thick mane or tail.
  • leovet describe it as mild care and fast cleaning for healthy skin and healthy hair.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies on a regular washing routine through spring and summer.
  • Manes and tails as well as the body coat.
  • Anyone wanting a plain, silicone-free shampoo before detangling or plaiting.
  • Greys and light coats with set-in urine or grass marks will do better with the Leovet Stain Eraser Shampoo, which is formulated for exactly that.
<>
How to Use
  • Wet the coat, mane and tail thoroughly with clean water first.
  • Work the shampoo in and massage it down to the skin.
  • Rinse until the water runs clear — residue left in a thick mane will dull it.
  • Scrape off and dry the horse properly, particularly in cold weather.
  • leovet publish no step-by-step directions on their website, so the routine above is standard shampoo practice rather than a manufacturer instruction.
<>
Specification
  • 500ml bottle. leovet do not publish pack sizes on their own product page.
  • Named active ingredient: biotin. Stated by leovet to be silicone free.
  • leovet publish no full ingredient list and no biotin concentration for this shampoo, so none is stated here.
  • Made by leovet Dr. Jacoby GmbH & Co. KG, Lahnau, Germany. Barcode 4033081191042.
  • leovet apply the same biotin across their hoof range, where they also credit it with hardening horn.

Care & Caution
  • Keep out of the eyes. If shampoo gets into an eye, rinse at once with plenty of clean water.
  • Patch test on a small area first if your horse has reacted to a wash product before.
  • A shampoo is not a treatment for a skin condition — persistent scurf, sores or hair loss want a vet, not a stronger wash.
