Leovet TamTamVet Fly Spray – 500ml

TamTamVet is Leovet's plant-based fly repellent, built on active substances from eucalyptus citriodora oil and geranium oil with cedarwood oil alongside them. Unlike most sprays in this class it contains no alcohol, so it goes on without the sting an alcohol carrier can cause on thin, scurfy or freshly clipped skin.

Leovet's claim for it rests on how the emulsion is made rather than on a bigger dose of active: homogenising the repellent oils, they say, makes the repellent effect last up to four times longer than the natural repellents already on the market. That comparison is the only duration Leovet publish — there is no figure in hours and no list of the insect species covered, so neither is stated here.

Performance & Benefits
  • Active substances drawn from eucalyptus citriodora oil and geranium oil, with cedarwood oil in support.
  • Alcohol-free, so it does not sting clipped, scurfy or sensitive skin the way an alcohol carrier can.
  • Homogenised emulsion — Leovet state this makes the repellent effect last up to four times longer than the natural repellents already available.
  • Cedarwood oil, which Leovet also credit with helping against hair loss and dandruff.
  • A plant scent rather than a chemical one, which makes it easier to use around the yard.
  • A registered biocidal product: BAuA N-36748 in Germany, HSE 8925 in the UK.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies turned out through the fly season.
  • Horses that react badly to alcohol-based repellents.
  • Owners who want a plant-based repellent rather than a synthetic one.
  • Everyday yard use over the body, neck, shoulders and quarters.
  • Not the format for a horse that needs the repellent to stay put through rain or heavy sweat — Leovet make TamTamVet Intensive as a gel for exactly that.
<>
How to Use
  • Shake the bottle, then spray evenly over the coat from a short distance.
  • For the face, spray onto a cloth or a gloved hand and wipe it on rather than spraying towards the head.
  • Reapply after heavy rain, hard sweating or washing.
  • Patch test a small area first on any horse with known skin sensitivity, and leave it a day before doing the whole horse.

Specification
  • 500ml spray bottle. Leovet also list this spray in a 550ml bottle.
  • Active substances from eucalyptus citriodora oil and geranium oil; cedarwood oil included.
  • Alcohol-free formulation.
  • Biocidal product registrations: BAuA N-36748 (Germany), HSE 8925 (UK).
  • Leovet publish no protection time in hours and no list of insect species for TamTamVet, so none is stated here.
  • Leovet publish their doping-relevance classification as a separate FN/ADMR list rather than on the product page, so no competition status is claimed here.

Care & Caution
  • Keep out of the eyes, nostrils and mouth. If it gets into an eye, rinse at once with plenty of clean water.
  • Do not apply to broken, raw or freshly scabbed skin.
  • Essential oils can provoke a reaction on a sensitive horse — patch test before spraying the whole animal.
  • Use biocides safely. Always read the label and the product information before use.
  • Do not rinse cloths or the bottle out into ponds, ditches or drains.
