Likit Holder – Pink

The Likit Holder is where most horses start. It is a moulded plastic cup that takes one 650g Likit refill, with a rope and clip so it can be hung freely in the stable rather than screwed to a wall. Because it swings, the horse cannot simply park its tongue in one place — the holder moves away and has to be chased, which is what turns a lick into an activity.

Likit rate it as the easiest of their toys, and it is the sensible first purchase before anything as demanding as a Tongue Twister or a Boredom Breaker. This one is the pink finish; Likit also produce the holder in blue, red, green, lilac, clear glitter and aqua. The refill is bought separately.

How to Use

• Press a 650g Likit refill into the holder from the back until it seats fully.
• Hang the holder from the rope and clip supplied, at roughly wither height and well clear of the walls.
• If the stable has no beam, Likit suggest running baler twine or rope across a corner and hanging the holder from the middle of it.
• When the lick is finished, pull the stub out and press a fresh 650g refill in.
• Rinse the empty holder in warm water and let it dry before refitting.

Care & Caution

• Hang it from a fixing that will hold if a horse leans its weight on it, and clip it high enough that a shod hind foot cannot reach it.
• Check the rope and the clip for fraying and wear every time you change the lick, and replace the rope if it is worn.
• Take it down if your horse bites at the plastic rather than licking the refill.
• Do not leave it hanging where a rug, headcollar or tail can catch on the rope.
