The Bella Bowl is a stainless steel dish set inside a polished poly-resin shell, with a rubber ring pushed into a groove in the base. The steel is what the dog eats from, so there is no porous plastic to scratch and harbour bacteria; the resin shell is what makes it look like furniture rather than kennel kit.

Large is Loving Pets' 35–65lb size, which covers most spaniels, collies, bulldogs and lighter labradors. Espresso is the dark brown finish — the least obtrusive of the nine colours and the easiest to live with on a wooden floor.

How to Use

• Press the rubber ring into the groove in the base before first use and stand the bowl on a level hard floor.
• Wash food bowls after each meal and water bowls daily, in hot water with a mild detergent.
• Remove the rubber ring before putting the bowl in the dishwasher.
• Dry the groove properly before refitting the ring, or water sits underneath it.
