Marriage's Quail Layers Micro Pellets – 7.5kg

The same 2mm quail layers pellet as the 20kg sack, in the bag size that actually suits most quail keepers. A dozen laying quail get through roughly 240g a day between them, so 7.5kg is a month's feed — bought fresh, used up, and replaced, rather than sitting in a bin going stale.

That matters more with quail than with hens. A 20kg bag can take a small covey most of a season to finish, by which time the vitamin fortification has had a long time to degrade and the bag has had every chance to attract vermin. For a garden covey the smaller bag is usually the better buy even at a higher price per kilo.

Performance & Benefits
  • 2mm micro pellets, easier for quail to eat and digest than standard 3mm pellets.
  • 20% protein, the level a laying quail needs and well above a hen ration.
  • 7.5kg is roughly a month for a dozen laying quail, so feed stays fresh.
  • Easier to lift, store and keep vermin-proof than a 20kg sack.
  • Includes a specific layers premix to promote yolk colour.
  • Same formulation as the 20kg bag, so no transition is needed between sizes.
<>
Suitable For
  • Laying quail from point of lay.
  • Garden coveys and small breeding groups of a few birds up to a couple of dozen.
  • Keepers short on dry, vermin-proof storage.
  • Not for growing quail chicks, which need a starter or grower crumb — and for a large covey or several pens the 20kg bag works out cheaper per kilo.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed ad lib from point of lay.
  • Marriage's advise allowing at least 20g per bird per day.
  • Offer fine insoluble grit so birds can grind their food.
  • Fresh, clean water at all times, in a shallow drinker quail cannot drown in.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • 7.5kg bag. 2mm micro pellet. Also available in 20kg.
  • Crude protein 20%, which is the only analytical figure Marriage's publish for this feed.
  • Marriage's publish no ingredient list and no further analysis — no oil, fibre, ash, calcium, phosphorus or sodium figure — on their own website, and invite customers to contact them directly for a fuller nutritional analysis. None is invented here.
  • Treat the declaration printed on your bag as the authority.
<>
Care & Caution
  • A layers ration carries calcium for shell formation. It is not suitable for growing quail chicks, which need a starter or grower feed until they come into lay.
  • Quail drown easily. Use a shallow drinker or add pebbles to the water tray.
