Electro Salts is NAF's concentrated plasma-salt replacer, mixed to put back what a horse actually sweats out rather than simply adding salt to the feed. Thirty grams supplies 14.1g chloride, 6.6g sodium, 5.0g potassium, 0.6g magnesium, 0.2g calcium and 0.1g phosphorus.

Dextrose is included to carry those salts across the gut wall more efficiently, which is why an electrolyte with a little sugar in it is taken up faster than plain table salt. It can go into hard feed or into drinking water, provided a bucket of plain fresh water is always standing alongside.

Suitable For

• Horses in regular work through hot weather.
• Competition and long-distance travel, where sweat losses are heavy.
• Recovery after hard or fast work.
• Elite performance horses, fed at 20g per 100kg bodyweight.
• A horse that picks powder out of its feed may take NAF Electro Lytes Liquid more readily.

Feeding

• Horses in work: 30g daily, three 10ml scoops. One scoop holds roughly 10g.
• Horses competing, over one to three days: 60g daily, six scoops.
• Ponies in work: 20g daily. Ponies competing: 40g daily.
• Elite performance: 20g per 100kg bodyweight.
• 1kg lasts approximately 33 days at the standard 30g rate.

Composition & Analysis

• Composition: sodium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium carbonate, refined rapeseed oil, monocalcium phosphate, dextrose.
• Additive: calcium lactate (E327) at 4,200mg/kg, as a preservative.
• Per 30g: chloride 14.1g, sodium 6.6g, potassium 5.0g, magnesium 0.6g, calcium 0.2g, phosphorus 0.1g.
• 1kg tub. Also made in 4kg, which NAF put at approximately 133 days.

Care & Caution

• Fresh, clean drinking water must be available at all times. Never give electrolytes to a horse that cannot drink.
• If you dissolve Electro Salts in a water bucket, always offer a second bucket of plain water beside it.
• Do not exceed the stated rates. More salt does not mean faster rehydration.
