Nature's Grub Fruit & Berry Treat Mix – 1.2kg

A scatter treat rather than a feed: cooked and whole cereals with raisins, apple, cranberries and apricots through them, plus black sunflower seeds and oyster shell. Thrown on the ground it gets a flock searching, scratching and picking things over, which is most of the point of it.

Nature's Grub declare 13% crude protein, 4% oil and 4% fibre. That sits below a layers ration, so this goes on top of a complete feed and not in place of it — best in the afternoon, once the birds have eaten their proper ration. 1.2kg reusable bucket.

Performance & Benefits
  • Cooked and whole cereals with real dried fruit: raisins, apple, cranberries and apricots.
  • Oyster shell blended through as a calcium source.
  • Black sunflower seeds for oil and for something worth hunting out.
  • Scattering gets birds foraging, scratching and moving rather than standing at a feeder.
  • 1.2kg reusable bucket with a lid, which keeps the mix dry between feeds.
<>
Suitable For
  • Laying hens and back-garden flocks of any breed.
  • Enrichment for birds confined to a run, or shut in under an avian influenza housing order.
  • Afternoon feeding, once the complete ration has been eaten.
  • Keepers who want a treat with fruit in it rather than plain mixed corn.
  • Not a complete feed. Birds still need a full layers ration such as Copdock Mill Range Layers Pellets underneath it.
<>
Feeding
  • Scatter straight from the bucket onto dry ground. Nature's Grub recommend the afternoon.
  • Keep it to a treat-sized handful per bird. Scatter feeds dilute a balanced ration if they are overdone.
  • Birds eating whole cereals need insoluble flint grit available separately. The oyster shell in this mix is a calcium source for shell building, not a grinding grit — they are different jobs.
  • Do not scatter onto wet or muddy ground, where it sours and draws vermin.
  • Keep the lid on the bucket between feeds.
