Nettex Poultry Wound Care Spray – 250ml
A wound spray for poultry has two jobs: clean the graze, and stop the rest of the flock finding it. Nettex's spray does both — antibacterial on application, and violet-coloured, so the treated skin is obviously covered and the red of blood is masked.
That colour is the practical part. A bare patch with blood on it draws pecking within hours, and a violet one draws far less, which gives the skin the quiet it needs to scab over.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Antibacterial, helping protect a minor wound from bacterial infection.
- Leaves a violet residue, so you can see at a glance that the area has been covered.
- The colour disguises the appearance of blood, which helps discourage further pecking.
- Spray application from about 15cm, so there is no need to handle the wound itself.
- 250ml can.
Suitable For
- Minor cuts, grazes and peck wounds on poultry.
- Bare patches that other birds have started to target.
- A poultry first aid kit alongside gloves and a separation pen.
- Not for large open wounds that may need stitching or hydrogel dressing — Nettex say so themselves, and those need a vet.
How to Use
- Clean the wound first.
- Spray the area from about 15cm — roughly six inches.
- Repeat daily, or as often as necessary.
- Keep the bird separated while the wound is fresh if the flock is taking an interest.
Specification
- 250ml. Barcode 5035104045041.
- Antibacterial wound cleanser leaving a violet-coloured residue.
- Nettex publish no ingredient list or concentration for this spray, so none is given here.
- For external application to minor wounds only.
Care & Caution
- Nettex state it must not be used on large open wounds that may require stitching or hydrogel bandaging.
- Keep the spray out of the bird's eyes and out of your own; wear gloves, as the violet dye stains skin.
- Spray in a ventilated space and avoid breathing the mist.
- Nettex publish no egg withdrawal period for this product.
- External use only. A wound that is not closing, or one that smells, needs a vet.
