B12 is the odd one out among the B vitamins: plants do not make it, so a horse gets its supply from microbial synthesis in the hindgut. When that system is under pressure — a disrupted gut, a horse off its feed, hard work, or simply age — the supply can fall short, and a flat, tired horse with no other obvious problem is the usual picture.

Omega deliver B12 here at 300,000mcg per kilo, carried on dextrose, brewers yeast, maltodextrin and aloe vera powder to make it palatable and to help it go down with the feed rather than sitting in the bottom of the bucket. It supports energy metabolism rather than acting as a stimulant, so it lifts a flat horse without the fizz that a cereal-based conditioning feed can bring.

Feeding

• Horses: 1.5 scoops daily.
• Ponies: 0.75 scoops daily.
• Add to the normal feed and mix in well.
