Biotin Extra is Omega's hoof supplement for horses with cracked, brittle or shelly feet that struggle to hold a shoe. A 50g daily serving supplies 15.5mg of biotin, and the biotin is backed by DL-methionine at 18,000mg/kg, zinc at 280mg/kg and 9,600mg/kg of MSM — the sulphur-bearing nutrients hoof horn is actually built from.

At the full 50g rate a 2kg pack lasts about 40 days, so this is a supplement bought by the season rather than the week. Hoof horn grows down from the coronet over the best part of a year, so judge it over months rather than weeks.

Feeding

• Feed 50g — four enclosed scoops — daily. Omega publish no separate loading rate for this product.
• That rate supplies 15.5mg of biotin a day.
• Omega state a 2kg pack lasts approximately 40 days at 50g a day.
• Mix into the daily feed and keep fresh water available at all times.
• Omega also supply Biotin Extra in a 4.5kg pack, which works out at roughly 90 days at the same rate.
