Brewers yeast is the by-product of beer fermentation, dried and ground to a fine powder. Omega sell it straight, with nothing else in the bag, and it is one of the cheapest useful things you can put in a feed: a source of B vitamins, minerals and amino acids that also makes a dull feed considerably more appetising.

Omega feed it by bodyweight rather than by scoop — 5g to 10g per 100kg — so a 500kg horse takes 25g to 50g a day and this 3kg bag runs for 60 to 120 days depending on where in that range you sit. That bodyweight-based rate is why the days-supply figure moves so much between a pony and a heavyweight.

Feeding
