Omega Equine Garlic Granules – 1kg

Garlic granules are one of the oldest things in a British feed room and still one of the most used, mostly through the fly season. Omega's are UK-sourced and sold straight, with nothing blended in. Garlic carries vitamin B, selenium and the organic sulphur compounds that give it its smell and its reputation as an insect deterrent.

Omega feed ponies 10g to 20g a day and horses 20g to 30g, so this 1kg bag runs for about 33 to 50 days on a horse and 50 to 100 days on a pony. That makes it roughly a summer's supply for one pony, or six weeks for a horse through the worst of the midges.

Performance & Benefits
  • Single-ingredient garlic granules, UK-sourced.
  • Contains vitamin B, selenium and organic sulphur compounds.
  • Omega describe it as a natural insect repellent, deterring biting insects such as flies, mosquitoes, ticks and midges.
  • Omega also say it supports the immune system and healthy airways.
  • Granulated rather than powdered, so it mixes in without dusting the feed room.
  • 1kg bag — enough for one horse through the height of the fly season.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies bothered by midges, flies and biting insects.
  • Seasonal feeding through spring and summer.
  • One horse or pony rather than a whole yard.
  • Owners who want to control the dose themselves rather than feed garlic within a blend.
  • For a yard feeding several horses through the season, the Omega Equine Garlic Granules 3kg is the size to buy.
<>
Feeding
  • Ponies: 10g to 20g per day.
  • Horses: 20g to 30g per day.
  • At those rates this 1kg bag lasts approximately 33 to 50 days for a horse, or 50 to 100 days for a pony.
  • Mix into the daily feed. Introduce gradually — the smell puts some horses off at first.
  • Omega also supply garlic granules in a 3kg bag.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: garlic granules.
  • Omega Equine publish no analytical constituents for their garlic granules, so no protein, fibre, oil or ash figure is stated here.
  • 1kg bag.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Omega set a maximum of 30g a day for a horse. Do not exceed the published feeding rate — garlic is fed at a low rate for a reason, and more is not better.
  • If your horse is on any veterinary medication, check with your vet before adding garlic to the diet.
