Omega Equine ZenCalm – 900g

ZenCalm is a magnesium-led calmer. Magnesium chelate and magnesium oxide sit alongside chamomile, brewers yeast, garlic and herbal extracts on a linseed expeller base, with pyridoxine at 1,000mg/kg and vitamin B12 at 73,000mcg/kg added — the B vitamins involved in normal nervous system function.

The loading and maintenance rates are far apart on this one, which is where most days-supply arithmetic goes wrong. It loads at 45g a day for seven days, then drops to 15g or 30g. The loading week alone takes 315g out of a 900g tub, leaving roughly 39 days at the low maintenance rate or 19 days at the high one.

Performance & Benefits
  • Magnesium in two forms — chelate and oxide — as the principal calming mineral.
  • Chamomile, traditionally used to settle both the nervous and digestive systems.
  • Brewers yeast supplying B vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
  • Added pyridoxine hydrochloride at 1,000mg/kg and vitamin B12 at 73,000mcg/kg.
  • Declared crude ash 29.80%, reflecting the mineral load, with crude protein 16.0%.
  • Omega say it addresses nervousness, stress and anxiety without compromising performance, and describe it as competition safe.
<>
Suitable For
  • Nervous, fizzy or over-excitable horses and ponies.
  • Horses that struggle to concentrate in the school or the ring.
  • Travelling, competing and stretches of increased stable time.
  • Horses on restricted turnout over winter.
  • A calmer will not fix pain or a badly fitting saddle. Rule those out first.
<>
Feeding
  • Loading rate: 45g — three scoops — daily for the first 7 days.
  • Maintenance rate: 15g to 30g — one to two scoops — daily thereafter. The enclosed scoop holds approximately 15g.
  • The 7-day loading period uses 315g of a 900g tub.
  • After loading, the remaining 585g gives roughly 39 days at 15g a day, or 19 days at 30g a day.
  • Fed at maintenance from the start, a full 900g tub covers about 60 days at 15g or 30 days at 30g.
  • Omega also supply ZenCalm in a 1.8kg refill.

Care & Caution
  • Omega describe ZenCalm as competition safe, but they list the botanical content only as herbal extracts and chamomile without itemising every extract. If you compete under FEI or BHA rules, confirm the current ingredient position with Omega before feeding.
  • Do not exceed the published maintenance rate of 30g a day once the loading week is over.
