Pure Fibre Balance sits halfway between a balancer and a feed. Grass chaff, oatstraw chaff and unmolassed sugar beet carry a higher proportion of Pure's premium balancer than anything else in the range, which is why it is fed at only 200g per 100kg of bodyweight — a kilo a day for a 500kg horse — while still covering the full vitamin and mineral requirement.

At 9 MJ/kg and 27% fibre it adds chew time and gut fill without adding much energy, which is the difficulty with feeding a good doer properly. Starch is 7% and naturally occurring sugar 4%, and Pure list it as suitable for laminitics and for horses that need a low-starch diet. A 15kg bag runs about a fortnight at the full rate.

Feeding
