Pure Feed Pure Balance – Low-Calorie Horse & Pony Feed Balancer, 15kg
Pure Balance – Low-Calorie Feed Balancer, 15kg
Pure Balance is the concentrated balancer that sits behind the rest of the Pure range: a small daily pellet carrying the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, prebiotics and live yeast a horse needs, with almost none of the calories attached. Pure feed it at 100g per 100kg of bodyweight a day, so a 500kg horse gets 500g and a 15kg bag runs for roughly a month.
That low feeding rate is the whole point. At 24.1% protein and 10.83 MJ/kg it reads rich on paper, but half a kilo a day delivers very little actual energy — the fortification arrives without the weight. Pure state it is suitable for laminitics, for horses with EMS and for insulin-resistant horses, and it is free from molasses, wholegrain cereals, alfalfa, soya and nutritionally improved straw.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Concentrated pelleted balancer — 100g per 100kg bodyweight covers the daily vitamin and mineral requirement.
- 24.1% protein, with added lysine at 27.7 g/kg and methionine at 3.9 g/kg for muscle and topline.
- Biotin at 30 mg/kg, well above a maintenance level, supporting hoof horn quality.
- Prebiotic fructo-oligosaccharides with Diamond V 'XP' and Vistacell live yeast for hindgut function.
- Vitamin E at 2,000 iu/kg and selenium at 2.1 mg/kg for antioxidant support.
- Free from molasses, wholegrain cereals, alfalfa, soya and nutritionally improved straw.
Suitable For
- Good doers and native types that hold weight on grass or hay alone.
- Horses with laminitis, EMS or insulin resistance, on Pure's own guidance.
- Horses at rest or in light work that need nutrition rather than calories.
- Topping up a diet built on straight chaff or a part ration of hard feed.
- Not a calorie source — a poor doer or a horse that needs to gain weight is better on Pure Condition Mix, which carries its own balancer.
Feeding
- Feed 100g per 100kg bodyweight per day — 500g for a 500kg horse.
- At that rate a 15kg bag lasts approximately one month for a 500kg horse.
- Feed alongside generous forage; this replaces a supplement, not fibre.
- Split across two servings where the horse is fed twice daily.
- Introduce over several days and keep fresh water available at all times.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: wheatfeed, sunflower extract, dark distiller grains, vitamins and minerals, unmolassed sugarbeet, oatfeed pellets, micronised linseed, di-calcium phosphate, limestone, salt, yeast product (Diamond V 'XP'), Vistacell yeast and lysine.
- Digestible energy 10.83 MJ/kg. Protein 24.1%. Oil 5.8%. Fibre 12.79%. Starch 7%. Naturally occurring sugar 3%.
- Calcium 3%. Phosphorus 1%. Magnesium 8.7 g/kg. Salt 1%. Lysine 27.7 g/kg. Methionine 3.9 g/kg.
- Vitamin A 65,000 iu/kg, D3 10,000 iu/kg, E 2,000 iu/kg, biotin 30 mg/kg, copper 200 mg/kg, zinc 400 mg/kg, manganese 300 mg/kg, selenium 2.1 mg/kg, iodine 3 mg/kg.
- An earlier version of this page gave 10.5 MJ/kg, 23% protein, 5.5% oil and 12% fibre. Those sat slightly below Pure's published analysis; the figures above are Pure's own.
Care & Caution
- This is a concentrated fortified feed. Feeding it alongside a second broad-spectrum balancer or a vitamin and mineral supplement risks over-supplying trace elements, selenium at 2.1 mg/kg in particular.
- Weigh the 100g per 100kg ration rather than measuring by scoop — the pellets are dense and a scoop overshoots easily.
