Rowen Barbary ReadyMash Extra – 20kg

ReadyMash Extra is the red bag, and it is ReadyMash with the calories turned up: milk powder, micronised flaked full fat soya and glucose go in on top of the soya hulls, porridge oats, maize and barley. Digestible energy is 11.3 MJ/kg against 10 for the standard mash, with oil at 5.25% and protein at 11.75%.

It still soaks in five minutes, so it does the same job for a horse with poor teeth or one that needs its feed wet, but with enough behind it to put condition on a poor doer. Sugar is declared at 8.5%, the highest of the three Rowen Barbary mashes, which is worth knowing before you buy it.

  • Glucose included, which Rowen Barbary link to electrolyte balance after strenuous work.
