Cats drink badly from still water. The instinct is an old one — standing water is the water most likely to be stale — and it is a real problem indoors, where a cat on dry food needs to take in far more than it usually does. A fountain moves the water continuously, and most cats will drink noticeably more from one.

This is the stoneware version rather than the plastic fountains that dominate the category: 20 x 20 x 10cm, 1.5 litres, with a silent USB pump and a purification filter in the circuit. The lid sits high and the drinking area is shallow, so a cat can drink without its whiskers touching anything.

How to Use

• Fill to the marked level with fresh water before switching the pump on.
• Connect the USB lead to a 5V USB plug. Scruffs do not supply the plug.
• Change the water every few days and rinse the bowl at the same time.
• Wash the bowl and lid in the dishwasher or by hand; rinse the pump under running water.
• Replace the filter and sponge with the Scruffs replacements when flow slows or the water tastes stale.

Care & Caution
