A raised feeder lifts the dish to 11cm, which puts the food at roughly the height a cat would find it if it were eating off a low step rather than a floor. The bowl is 12cm across and holds 0.6 litres, in plain cream heavy stoneware with no pattern to distract from the shape.

The height does two things. It takes the crouch out of eating, which matters for an older or arthritic cat that otherwise props itself awkwardly over a floor bowl; and it lets the cat keep its head more level, which reduces the regurgitation some cats get after bolting food head-down.
