Simple System Blue Bag Grass Pellets – 20kg

Simple System make three grass pellets, and the difference between them comes down to when the grass was cut. Blue Bag is the summer grazing equivalent — harvested to give the feeding value of good summer grass, sitting between the mature, high-fibre HayCare below it and the richer spring-cut Red Bag above.

The result is a 6mm pellet with high-quality fibre and moderate protein: enough to keep condition on a horse in light to medium work, without the energy that tips a Thoroughbred or a sharp native over the edge. Starch sits below 0.5%, which is about as low as a bagged feed gets.

Performance & Benefits
  • 100% naturally grown grass, free from binders, cereals, molasses, soya and additives.
  • Harvested as the summer grazing equivalent — the benefits of good summer grass, all year round.
  • Very low starch at under 0.5%, and lower protein than the spring-cut Red Bag.
  • High-quality fibre supporting digestive health and gut function.
  • Can be fed soaked, or mixed with soaked PuraBeet or a Simple System chop.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies in light to medium work.
  • Improving condition and maintaining weight.
  • Thoroughbreds and horses needing a controlled fibre diet.
  • Foals, greedy eaters, and elderly or dentally challenged horses — when soaked.
<>
Feeding
  • Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
  • Ideally fed soaked, using 2.5 times their volume of water. Alternatively, mix with soaked PuraBeet or a Simple System chop and dampen well.
  • For foals, greedy, elderly or dentally challenged horses, the pellets must be soaked.
  • Start with 100g per 100kg bodyweight per day, dry weight before soaking — 500g daily for a 500kg horse.
  • Increase as required, up to a maximum of 5kg per day.
  • A level Stubbs bowl scoop holds approximately 1.5kg dry weight.
  • For an economical hay replacer with very low sugar and starch, soak two parts Blue Bag to one part PuraBeet.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: dried grass. 20kg bag.
  • Crude protein 8–14%. Crude fibre 25–30%. Sugar under 11%. Starch under 0.5%.
  • Simple System avoid ryegrass entirely, preferring naturally lower-sugar grasses such as fescue, Timothy and mixed native species.
  • No vitamins are added; the forage carries them naturally. Seasonal variation occurs and each bag details the batch analysis.
