Simple System MalleMash – 15kg
MalleMash was built for a specific and frustrating group of conditions: mallenders and sallenders — the crusty, scaly skin that forms behind the knee and in front of the hock, most often in feathered breeds — along with CPL and general dry, itchy skin. These are managed rather than cured, and the diet is one of the few levers an owner genuinely controls.
It is a high-fibre mash of Timothy grass, beet pulp, cooked full fat linseed, seaweed meal and salt. The linseed takes crude oil to 8–10% and carries the Omega 3; sugar and starch are both declared under 5%. It soaks instantly, which counts for a great deal when you are feeding something every day for months rather than weeks.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Crude fat (oil) 8–10% from cooked full fat linseed, rich in Omega 3 for skin and coat.
- High fibre at 20–25%, so it feeds the hindgut as well as the skin.
- Sugar under 5% and starch under 5%.
- Timothy grass and beet pulp base, with seaweed meal for sea minerals.
- Soaks instantly — a genuine advantage for a feed given daily and long term.
- Free from cereals, molasses, pulses, soya, preservatives and additives.
Suitable For
- Equines affected by mallenders and sallenders.
- Horses with CPL (chronic progressive lymphoedema).
- Horses with dry or itchy skin.
- Natives, cobs and feathered breeds, which Simple System name as the typical users.
- Horses at all levels of work, at the full rate or at half for maintenance.
- Not a balancer — for full vitamin and mineral cover on a restricted ration, Simple System MetaSlim or Calm Balance+ do that job.
Feeding
- Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
- Feed 200g per 100kg ideal bodyweight daily — 1kg a day for a 500kg horse.
- That amount may be halved where the horse is being maintained rather than treated.
- Feed soaked: 2.5 parts water to 1 part feed. It soaks instantly.
- Feed as part of a complete Simple System forage diet for best results.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: Timothy grass, beet pulp, cooked full fat linseed, seaweed meal, sodium chloride. 15kg bag.
- Crude protein 8–12%. Crude fibre 20–25%. Crude fat (oil) 8–10%. Crude ash 6–9%.
- Sugar under 5%. Starch under 5%.
- Simple System publish no digestible energy figure for MalleMash, so none is given here.
- No vitamins are added; the forages carry them naturally, and each bag details the batch analysis.
Care & Caution
- MalleMash is dietary support, not a treatment. Mallenders, sallenders and CPL need veterinary diagnosis and an ongoing management plan.
- Feed it soaked. Do not offer the dry mash straight from the bag.
