Simple System MeadowBrix – 1kg Block
This is a single 1kg MeadowBrix block rather than the 20kg sack — the size to buy when you want to find out whether your horse takes to them before committing to a pallet's worth, or when you need one block to put in the lorry for a show. It is the same mature Timothy grass, compressed and fed whole and dry so the horse works at it head-down, much as it would graze.
Starch is declared under 1%, the lowest figure in Simple System's range, with sugar under 12% and crude fibre 25–35%. One block is one day's ration for a 100kg pony, or a fifth of a 500kg horse's daily allowance, which makes the single-block pack straightforward to portion for box rest or an afternoon in the trailer.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 100% pure mature Timothy grass compressed into a block. Nothing added.
- One block, one kilo — the smallest pack Simple System make, and easy to portion.
- Starch under 1% and sugar under 12%.
- Fed whole and dry, so it encourages sustained chewing and saliva production.
- Crude fibre 25–35% and digestible energy 9–10.5 MJ/kg.
- Occupies a stabled horse without the calories of a bucket feed.
Suitable For
- Trying MeadowBrix before buying the 20kg bag.
- Box rest, travelling and competition trips where one block is enough.
- Horses with stereotypies, or simply bored in the stable.
- Horses at all levels of work and rest.
- Not economical as a full hay replacer at this size — the Simple System MeadowBrix 20kg bag is the one for daily feeding.
Feeding
- Feed whole and dry, at ground level in a bucket or on the stable floor.
- One block weighs approximately 1kg.
- Feed up to 1 block per 100kg bodyweight daily — up to 5 blocks a day for a 500kg horse.
- Feed according to requirements and condition.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% dried Timothy grass. Supplied as one 1kg block.
- Crude protein 7–14%. Crude fibre 25–35%. Crude fat (oil) 1–2%. Crude ash 3–6%.
- Sugar under 12%. Starch under 1%. Digestible energy 9–10.5 MJ/kg (medium).
- No vitamins are added; the forage carries them naturally. Seasonal variation occurs and each pack details the batch analysis.
Care & Caution
- Brix require good teeth. Simple System do not recommend them for elderly or dentally challenged horses — soaked pellets such as HayCare are the better option.
- Feed at ground level so the horse can brace against the block rather than pulling it about.
