Simple System MetaSlim – 20kg

MetaSlim was developed with an equine vet for horses and ponies challenged by weight or metabolic problems, including those that show in the feet. It is a forage balancer rather than a feed: fed in small quantities, it delivers protein, minerals and trace elements to a horse whose ration has had the calories taken out of it, without putting them back.

Sugar and starch are both declared under 4%. Crude protein runs 18–25%, which is high and deliberately so — cutting a horse's calories usually cuts its quality protein too, and muscle and hoof still need it. The instruction to feed to ideal rather than actual bodyweight is the other half of that logic, and it is the part owners most often get wrong.

Feeding

• Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
• Feed 100g per 100kg ideal — not actual — bodyweight daily, divided between two feeds.
• That is 500g a day for a horse whose ideal weight is 500kg.
• Quick soaking: use 2 to 2.5 parts water to 1 part feed.
• Feed alone, or mixed into a low-calorie chop such as Organic Lucie Stalks or Timothy Chop.

• Sugar under 4%. Starch under 4%. Digestible energy 12.4 MJ/kg.
• No vitamins are added; they occur naturally within the ingredients, often in precursor form.

Care & Caution

• MetaSlim is dietary support, not a treatment. Laminitis, EMS and PPID need veterinary diagnosis and management alongside the diet.
• Feed to ideal bodyweight, not to the weight the horse currently is — feeding to actual weight overfeeds an overweight pony.
