Simple System Perform & Shine – 15kg

Perform & Shine is a chop of Cocksfoot and Timothy — two grasses Simple System grow in preference to ryegrass — coated with fresh cold-pressed linseed oil. The oil takes crude fat to 5–7% and supplies energy as fat rather than as starch, which is declared under 2%. That is why it can put condition and stamina on a horse without making it sharp.

It is dust-free and, being a chop rather than a pellet, it takes proper chewing. The one figure to read carefully is sugar, declared at 7–15%: higher than Simple System's lucerne chops and much higher than the Brix, because grass cut for condition carries its sugar with it. For a poor doer in medium to hard work that is exactly the point; for a laminitic it is not.

Performance & Benefits
  • Premium chopped grass, Cocksfoot and Timothy, with cold-pressed linseed oil.
  • Crude fat (oil) 5–7% and starch under 2% — energy as oil, not as cereal starch.
  • Digestible energy 10–11 MJ/kg, at the top of Simple System's chop range.
  • Crude protein 13–18% and crude fibre 20–25%.
  • Linseed oil carries Omega 3 for coat and skin condition.
  • Dust-free and highly palatable, which helps with fussy feeders.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies in medium to hard work.
  • Competition horses needing stamina without fizz.
  • Poor doers and fussy feeders.
  • Horses whose coat and condition need lifting.
  • Not the choice where sugar has to be restricted — Simple System name Timothy Chop as the lower-sugar grass chop.
<>
Feeding
  • Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
  • Simple System publish no fixed rate per 100kg bodyweight — feed to requirements and condition.
  • A level Stubbs bowl scoop holds approximately 400g.
  • Feed alongside a Simple System balancer for full vitamin and mineral cover.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: premium dried chopped grass (Cocksfoot, Timothy) and cold-pressed linseed oil. 15kg bag.
  • Crude protein 13–18%. Crude fibre 20–25%. Crude fat (oil) 5–7%. Crude ash 6–9%.
  • Sugar 7–15%. Starch under 2%. Digestible energy 10–11 MJ/kg (medium).
  • No vitamins are added; the forage carries them naturally, and each bag details the batch analysis.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Sugar is declared at 7–15%, well above Simple System's lucerne chops and the Brix. Take veterinary advice before feeding it to a laminitic, EMS or insulin-dysregulated horse.
  • Simple System publish no laminitis warning for Perform & Shine, but do direct anyone needing a lower-sugar grass chop to Timothy Chop instead.
