Simple System SainfoinBrix – 1kg Block
SainfoinBrix is 100% pure sainfoin compressed into a block, and this is the single 1kg pack rather than the 20kg sack. Sainfoin is a legume like lucerne but a different plant altogether, which makes it the obvious thing to try for a horse that does not get on with lucerne-based feeds — and one block is a cheap way to find out whether yours will eat it.
The declared analysis runs 11–16% crude protein and 25–35% crude fibre, with sugar under 8% and starch under 6%: richer than MeadowBrix on protein, and a touch higher on starch. Like all the Brix it is fed whole and dry, so the horse spends real time at it rather than clearing a bucket in five minutes.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 100% pure sainfoin, compressed into a block with nothing added.
- A single 1kg block, so a horse can be tried on sainfoin without buying a sack.
- Crude protein 11–16% and crude fibre 25–35%.
- Sugar under 8% and starch under 6%; digestible energy 9–10 MJ/kg.
- Fed whole and dry, encouraging chewing and extended eating time.
- A different legume from lucerne, and useful where lucerne does not suit.
Suitable For
- Horses that do not get on with lucerne-based feeds.
- Enrichment in the stable or the field, and boredom relief on box rest.
- Horses in recovery or building condition, at all levels of work.
- Trying sainfoin before committing to the 20kg bag or to Sainfoin Pellets.
- Not the lowest-starch option Simple System make — MeadowBrix is under 1% starch where SainfoinBrix is under 6%.
Feeding
- Feed whole and dry, at ground level in a bucket or on the stable floor.
- One block weighs approximately 1kg.
- Feed up to 1 block per 100kg bodyweight daily — up to 5 blocks a day for a 500kg horse.
- Feed according to requirements and condition.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% pure sainfoin. Supplied as one 1kg block.
- Crude protein 11–16%. Crude fibre 25–35%. Crude fat (oil) 2–4%. Crude ash 3–8%.
- Sugar under 8%. Starch under 6%. Digestible energy 9–10 MJ/kg (medium).
- No vitamins are added; the forage carries them naturally, and each pack details the batch analysis.
Care & Caution
- Simple System do not recommend Brix for elderly or dentally challenged horses, as the blocks require good teeth for chewing. Soaked Sainfoin Pellets are the better option there.
- Feed at ground level so the horse can brace against the block.
