Summer Salt is sieved white European rock salt at 99% sodium chloride, supplied as a 2kg tub with a 30g scoop. Simple System now list the same product under the name EquiSodium, but it is the identical granular rock salt, for adding either to the feed or to the water.

The point of a fed salt rather than a lick is control: you know exactly how much sodium the horse has had. That matters most in hot weather, on long journeys and after hard work, when sweat losses are real and a horse short of salt tends to drink less rather than more.
