Skinner's Field & Trial Junior Chicken – 2.5kg

Junior is built for the six-to-eighteen-month stretch, and the 2.5kg bag is the one for a single young dog or for testing it before a sack arrives. Poultry meat meal leads at 32.5%, the highest meat inclusion in the Field & Trial dry foods.

At 27% protein and 16% fat it is a good deal richer than any adult recipe — 384 kcal per 100g — because a dog of this age is still laying down frame as well as starting work. Prebiotic levels are set high at MOS 2,500mg/kg and FOS 1,000mg/kg.

  • 27% crude protein and 16% crude fat, at 384 kcal per 100g.

  • Glucosamine 250mg/kg and chondroitin sulphate 150mg/kg for forming joints.

Suitable For
  • Dogs from around six months to around eighteen months.
  • Young gundogs beginning their training year.
  • A single young dog, where a 2.5kg bag is finished fresh.
  • Trying the recipe before committing to the 15kg sack.
  • Contains maize and wheat, so it is not part of the sensitive range. A cereal-sensitive youngster wants Field & Trial Puppy Lamb & Rice 2.5kg, which runs to the same age.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed two meals a day at this age rather than one.
  • Skinner's publish their daily amounts as a bodyweight chart rather than a single figure, so work from the guide printed on the bag and adjust to condition.
  • Feed dry, or moistened with a small amount of tepid water if preferred.
  • Switch to an adult recipe at around eighteen months, choosing it by the work the dog is actually doing.
  • Change over gradually, mixing an increasing share of the new food with the old across several days.
  • Fresh drinking water at all times.
